Quick answer: If you are searching for Netflix new movies today, Saturday, September 19, 2026, the biggest fresh film arrival is Best of the Best, which premiered September 18. The next major Netflix movie release is UNABOMBER on September 25, while Stop! That! Train! arrives September 20 and several catalog movies land September 24–25.
Netflix new movies this week: September 18–24
Netflix’s current U.S. release schedule mixes a new original comedy with licensed movies and international titles. The standout new original is Best of the Best, while the rest of the week gives movie fans a mix of comedy, horror and older favorites returning to the service. Netflix’s own September guide confirms the weekly rollout and dates. See Netflix’s current weekly release guide.
Best of the Best — September 18
Best of the Best follows childhood best friends Maya, played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Anjali, played by Priyanka Kedia, as they join UCLA’s competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team. The road to the U.S. championship turns their friendship and ambitions into a much bigger challenge.
Directed by Lena Khan, the Netflix original also features Hasan Minhaj, Janina Gavankar, Chaneil Kular and Ankur Rathee. Netflix describes it as a coming-of-age comedy built around friendship, competition and self-acceptance. Read Netflix Tudum’s Best of the Best guide.
Stop! That! Train! — September 20
Stop! That! Train! brings a deliberately wild disaster-comedy setup to Netflix. Two railway attendants have to work with their first-class rivals when a glamorous train is hit by an epic storm, with RuPaul Charles playing President Gagwell. Netflix lists the film for September 20.
New movies coming to Netflix September 24
September 24 is another useful date to watch if you are tracking new movies on Netflix. Netflix’s official schedule lists House at the End of the Street and Oculus among the movie additions for the day. House at the End of the Street follows a teenager who becomes interested in the infamous double murder next door, while Oculus centers on siblings still trying to understand the deaths of their parents years earlier.
These are different from Netflix Originals: they are catalog additions, so availability can vary by country and licensing agreements. For U.S. viewers, the safest way to confirm a title on the day is to check Netflix directly.
UNABOMBER: the major Netflix movie arriving September 25
One of the most notable upcoming Netflix movies is UNABOMBER, arriving September 25. The drama is inspired by true events and follows Ted Kaczynski from his early years through the FBI investigation that eventually closes in on him.
Jacob Tremblay plays Kaczynski, while Russell Crowe plays Harvard professor Henry Murray and Shailene Woodley plays FBI agent Joanne Miller. Director Janus Metz uses two timelines to connect Kaczynski’s early life with the later manhunt. Netflix lists the film as 1 hour 38 minutes and rated R. Netflix new movies for September 2026: the bigger picture
The September movie calendar is broader than a single weekend. Netflix’s official fall movie guide includes Best of the Best on September 18 and UNABOMBER on September 25, with more original films scheduled later in the fall. That makes the current week useful as a snapshot, but the monthly list is better for viewers planning ahead.
Netflix’s September slate also includes returning series, documentaries and international programming, but those should be separated from a true new movies on Netflix search. This article focuses on films so the intent stays clear.
What are the best new Netflix movies to watch right now?
There is no single correct pick for every viewer, but the current lineup gives you clear genre choices. Best of the Best is the fresh coming-of-age comedy, Stop! That! Train! is the broad disaster-comedy option, and UNABOMBER is the darker true-event drama arriving next week. For horror, Oculus and House at the End of the Street are the notable September 24 additions.
Netflix new movies vs. new Netflix Originals
These terms are easy to mix up. “New Netflix movies” can mean any movie newly added to the Netflix catalog, including licensed films. “New Netflix Originals” generally refers to films Netflix presents as original releases. A strong monthly watch list should make that distinction clear because a licensed movie can disappear later when a streaming agreement ends.
How often should you check Netflix for new movies?
Netflix adds titles throughout the month rather than releasing everything on one day. For searchers looking for Netflix movies this week, a weekly update is the most useful format. For Netflix movies this month and upcoming Netflix movies, a monthly guide can provide the broader calendar. This page can be updated as Netflix announces additional dates or changes.
